Join us  for an exciting summer theatre adventure! Our camps provide a fun and safe environment for children to explore theatre arts. Mariposa Theatre for Young Audiences Summer 2018 camps are available for ages 7 through 18, with options of one or two-week sessions; full and half day. Imagination and creativity are essential components to our learning environment. Led by highly experienced professionals and teaching artists, participants will explore character development, improvisation, stage presence, auditioning and more, through educational games & activities. Each camp culminates in a Showcase Performance for family and friends. Whatever the theatrical aspirations may be, Mariposa has a camp for you!


Mariposa Theatre for Young Audiences does not guarantee that camps cancelled due to circumstances beyond our control (i.e., weather, power outage) will be made up; no refunds will be issued. We do not offer make-up days due to a child’s inability to attend. In rare instances, camps may be cancelled 2-weeks prior to the start of camp due to low enrollment. A full refund will be issued in these cases. We ask that you please communicate any planned absences to the Camp Administrator on the first day of camp. This will help us to create a productive camp rehearsal schedule.


Any cancellations must be made in writing before May 1st. The tuition will be refunded less a $100 administrative fee. From May 1st – May 31st, only 50% of the tuition will be refunded. There are no refunds after June 1, 2018. If you are registered for camp and need to change sessions, there will be a $50 administrative fee once the change is approved. If your camp session is full or is cancelled due to low enrollment you will be refunded your tuition payment.


All sessions are held daily from 9am to 5pm. We ask that campers be dropped off no earlier than 8:45am and picked up no later than 5:00pm. Older students are not allowed to walk home from camp without written consent from a guardian. A detailed arrival and dismissal procedure will be communicated to all parents and guardians prior to the start of camp.


Early Care is available daily from 8:00am to 9:00am for $50 per  a one week camp session. $100 for a two week session.
After Care is available daily from 5:00pm to 6:00pm for $50 per one week camp session. $100 for a two week session
If you would like to purchase both Early and After Care, the cost is $90 per one week camp session. $175 for a two week session.
You may purchase Early Care or After Care at a rate of $15 per day if you do not need extra care for the entire session.
Early and After care is supervised unstructured time for students and may be purchased during the online registration process. For more information, please contact us at


Parents/guardians will be assessed a $10 charge if a child is picked up more than 15 minutes after class/camp ends, and an additional $1 per minute thereafter. Please ensure that your child is picked up on time.


Arrangements can be made between Mariposa Theatre for Young Audiences and parents/guardians to split the cost of camps into a payment plan. Requests for Payment plans must be received by April 1st. To make arrangements, please write to and include “payment plan” in the subject line.


We strongly suggest that nothing of value be brought to camp. Cell phones, tablets, and other electronic devices are ONLY allowed to be used during break and lunch times. Mariposa Theatre for Young Audiences assumes no responsibility for any lost or damaged personal items.


Mariposa Theatre for Young Audiences reserves the right to use photos and videos taken during camps and performances for promotional (via print or the web) and archival purposes only. In an effort to keep our young performances safe and to maintain focus, the taking of photographs, videotaping, and the use of recording devices is not permitted during camp classes.


In order to provide students with a safe and supportive environment, Mariposa Theatre for Young Audiences maintains a strict “Zero Tolerance” policy in regard to physical or verbal abuse, theft, vandalism, and the use of any and all illegal substances. Any student found in violation of this policy will be asked to leave the camp and no refunds will be issued.

Character Creations: Creative exploration and the development of individual potential are the primary goals for our younger theatre students. In addition to rehearsing their scenes, students investigate the world of theatre through exercises that activate their voices, bodies and imaginations. Open to students entering grades 3-6 in the fall

June 18-22, 2018   9am-12:30pm  OR 1:30-5pm  Space is limited to 12 students. $185

Actors Lab: This camp works with concepts such as dramatic action, given circumstances, and text analysis.  Performers explore through guided improvs, group exercises, and scene work while building skills in character development as well as identifying objectives, and moments of decision. Open to students entering grades 7-12 in the fall.

June 18-22, 2018 9am-12:30pm OR 1:30-5pm. Space is limited to 12 students.  $185

Shakespeare Bootcamp: This 1-week intensive will immerse young actors in the world of William Shakespeare. Participants will discover techniques to unlock the text; iambic pentameter, scansion, irregular verse, and bring the Bard’s words to life. All students will actively participate in a mix of sonnets, monologues and scenes selected to highlight the wide range of possibilities within Shakespeare’s work. The session will culminate with a workshop presentation for friends and family.

June 25-29, 2018  9am-4pm Open to students entering grades 8-12 in the fall.  Space is limited to 15 students $350

Rising Star Music Theatre Camp: In a fun and creative environment, students develop theatre skills, gain confidence and develop social skills through collaboration and performance.

Professional teaching artists lead classes focused on acting, singing, and dance. This two-week intensiveculminates with a public performance of a high-energy, highly entertaining musical revue. It includes repertoire from classic and contemporary musical theatre, with opportunities for solo, duet, and ensemble performance. The students will be divided into two age groups: 8-11 & 12-16

July 9-20, 2018  9am-5pm Space is limited to 12 students in each age group. Cost is $755

Acting for the Camera: Learn how to relate to a camera as though facing a goal, an enemy, or a distant horizon. Practice how to act out of sequence, act one line at a time, maintain concentration amid the distractions of a film set, and stay within the tight movement parameters that acting for a camera often requires. Continue to gain confidence as you work to achieve the honesty and relaxation that produces the best on-camera acting.
