Currently all classes will be taking place in Bellevue. However, we are always looking to expand offering classes into other communities. If you have a suggestion to bring quality theatre education to your community, please let us know.
Creative Dramatics: ages 5-7 Instructor Alisa Mehlo Wednesdays, 10-11am
Allow children ages 5-7 to enjoy the feeling of trying something new and making new friends! Students will be introduced to theatrical concepts by exploring various theatre games, art projects and songs in this fun and exciting class. The class will end with a showcase so family and friends can see all of the fun and hard work that was put in throughout the semester. Classes start March 18- May 13. Cost is $120 per student.
Acting Adventures: ages 8-10 Instructor Alisa Mehlo Wednesdays, 11:30-12:45
This program introduces youngsters to performing! The class will focus on movement, listening and rhythm games, speaking, acting, and improvisation. Students will also be preparing for the Class Showcase, a short presentation of what they have learned through the semester. The goal is to help children learn from both the instruction as well as the experience of performing. Classes start March 18- May 13. Cost is $130 per student.
Acting Foundations: ages 11-13 Alisa Mehlo Fridays 10-11:30am
We’ll dive into the fundamentals of stage acting, including theatre vocabulary such as objectives and obstacles, voice and movement, and the importance of risk-taking and trust building. Students will also be preparing for the Class Showcase, a short presentation of what they have learned through the semester. Classes start March 20- May 15. Cost is $160 per student.
Acting 101 : ages 14-17 Instructor Caren Hearne, Fridays 12-2pm
By working on scene study skills, building relationships with their fellow actors, and channeling their imagination, teen actors build confidence and gain the tools they need to make a script their own. This class will provide the student with the context for developing acting skills and techniques. Through improv, games and scene work, students will understand the importance of self discipline and regular practice and rehearsal. They will begin to develop their own interpretative skills so that they can perform a role using a personal and unique artistic style. Students will also be preparing for the Class Showcase, a short presentation of what they have learned through the semester. Classes start March 20- May 15. Cost is $210 per student.

THEATRE FOR YOUNG AUDIENCES
ATTENDANCE/MAKE UP POLICY
Mariposa Theatre for Young Audiences does not guarantee that classes/camps/workshops cancelled due to circumstances beyond our control (i.e., weather, power outage) will be made up; no refunds will be issued. We do not offer make-up days due to a child’s inability to attend. In rare instances, classes/camps may be cancelled 2-weeks prior to the start due to low enrollment. A full refund will be issued in these cases. We ask that you please communicate any planned absences to the Education Director on the first day of class/camp. This will help us to create a productive schedule.
If your class/camp is cancelled due to low enrollment you will be refunded your tuition payment.
DROP OFF/PICK UP
Parent are required to come into the building to drop off and pick up their student. The instructor must see the child leave with the parent or approved guardian.
LATE PICK UP
Parents/guardians will be assessed a $10 charge if a child is picked up more than 15 minutes after class/camp ends, and an additional $1 per minute thereafter. Please ensure that your child is picked up on time.
Arrangements can be made between Mariposa Theatre for Young Audiences and parents/guardians to split the cost of camps into a payment plan. Requests for Payment plans must be received by April 1st. To make arrangements, please write to email@example.com and include “payment plan” in the subject line.
PERSONAL ITEMS/CELL PHONES
We strongly suggest that nothing of value be brought to camp. Cell phones, tablets, and other electronic devices are ONLY allowed to be used during break and lunch times. Mariposa Theatre for Young Audiences assumes no responsibility for any lost or damaged personal items.
Mariposa Theatre for Young Audiences reserves the right to use photos and videos taken during camps and performances for promotional (via print or the web) and archival purposes only. In an effort to keep our young performances safe and to maintain focus, the taking of photographs, videotaping, and the use of recording devices is not permitted during camp or classes.
In order to provide students with a safe and supportive environment, Mariposa Theatre for Young Audiences maintains a strict “Zero Tolerance” policy in regard to physical or verbal abuse, theft, vandalism, and the use of any and all illegal substances. Any student found in violation of this policy will be asked to leave the camp and no refunds will be issued.
